Mara Sopa Lodge

 

Mara Sopa Lodge is located on the slopes of Oloongams Hills in the Masai Mara Game Reserve. Guests are drawn to this lodge built in an ethnic design, surrounded by a rich landscape, covered in fauna, from huge desert cacti to sweet smelling jasmine flowers, all within the fabled Masai Mara game reserve.

Reception
Airy and spacious, it is decorated in with the red coloured walls synonymous with the Masai. An effect of beads painted in bright colours is very prominent. In the centre is a huge table with slabs of stone found in the area. Light fixtures are calabashes arranged in a tasteful manner, hanging from a high thatched roof. The walls are adorned with Masai artifacts, muriel's and woven batiks.

Lobby
Down a few steps, the walls hanging with woven batiks, is the lobby, round with a high thatched roof. Right in the centre is a fire place, a bar on one side and comfortable seats all around for lounging. The walls have paintings of animals fond in the region.
Glass doors open out to a verandah facing the swimming pool and a beautiful garden, with sweet smelling jasmine plants creeping along the walls, giving a beautiful fragrant in the evenings when the flowers open.

Accommodation

50 traditional round buildings with thatched roofs, each with 2 rooms. Situated right at the top of the property with an uninterrupted view of the Oloongama hills, this very spacious suite has a king size bed set on a platform. The bathroom has a sunken in bath and shower. A spacious verandah is in the front to watch the sunset or have privately served meals, sunbathe, relax and view resident wildlife and birds. It even has en-suite bathroom facilities that provide sharing sockets and hair dryers.  There are also direct dial telephone facilities as well as satellite television and video options. The nearby springs help in supplying water, filtered water is given in flasks in every room and bottled water is ever there for sale.

Honeymoon Suite
Situated right at the top of the property with an uninterrupted view of the Oloongama hills, this very spacious suite has a king size bed set on a platform. The bathroom has a sunken in bath and shower. A spacious verandah is in the front to watch the sunset or have privately served meals.

Dinning

A round structure, the dining room has high ceiling, red painted walls adorned with paintings depicting the Masai going about their every day life. Some walls have framed beautiful beaded necklaces. In the centre is a huge fireplace, decorate

Climate

The Sopa Lodge of an altitude 2,104 meters (6,400 ft) above sea level, experiences warm days and cool evenings, because of cool breeze through the valley where it is located. The conservation is fresh and green almost throughout the year, and this is a result from the rainy seasons of April/June, October/November. For early mornings and late evenings, a light sweater might be needed, otherwise only the lightest of clothes are recommended. For the pool, a swimwear is needed, while amore formal attire might be advisable for cocktails and theme evenings.
