7 Days Maasai Mara Safari

Country: Kenya, Type : Adventure
Total Days : 7

NAIROBI

Upon arrival in Kenya we are met by Nappet Tours & Travel representatives and transferred to the Five- Star Nairobi Safari Club located in the centre of the City of Nairobi . The day is spent at leisure, shopping for your safari outfit. In the evening we have a safari briefing. Overnight at the NAIROBI SAFARI CLUB (B).

DAY 2: MOUNTAIN LODGE

After a hearty butter breakfast we leave Nairobi and drive North through the agricultural Kikuyu countryside to arrive at Mountain Lodge in time for lunch. Mountain Lodge is one of the three game outlook lodges in the Mt. Kenya region. The lodge is built overlooking a waterhole which animals frequent to have a drink and lick salt. Each room is built with a balcony overlooking the waterhole, thus enabling you to see the animals from the comfort of your room. After lunch the rest of the afternoon is spent viewing the animals at the water hole. In the evenings the water hole is floodlit, giving you an opportunity of seeing some of the nocturnals. Apart from seeing such frequent animals as the elephants, buffaloes, baboons and white and black colobus monkeys, you might see the rare, shy elusive Bongo antelope or even the Golden Cat. Bird viewing is also rewarding, with over 250 species recorded including Jackson 's Francolin, the sparrow hawk, Africa Goshawk, eagles, sunbirds and plovers. Dinner and overnight at the MOUNTAIN LODGE.

DAY 3: SWEETWATERS

Today after breakfast we will continue with our journey North, passing through the western slopes of Mt. Kenya , across the Equator to the Sweetwaters game sanctuary. Sweetwaters Camp, our new home, is located on a 110,000-acre ranch populated by elephants, zebra, leopards, chimps and the endangered rhino. We arrive in time for lunch. Our activities at Sweetwaters will be chosen from among these options: Camel rides, horse riding, evening game drives and bird walks, not forgetting a tour of the Jane Goodall Chimp Sanctuary. SWEETWATERS CAMP (B,L,D).

DAY 4: LAKE NAKURU LODGE

On this day we will drive into the Great Rift Valley, with Lake Nakuru as our destination. Lake Nakuru and the other lakes of the Great Rift Valley are the few geological features of the Earth visible from outer space. Lake Nakuru National Park is world famous for its stunning flocks of the lesser flamingoes, which literally turn its shores pink. We arrive at Lake Nakuru Lodge in time for lunch. After lunch we will have a game drive where we expect to see roam waterbucks, Bohor reedback, zebra, the Black and White rhinos, lions, Rothschild giraffes, White and Black colobus monkeys. The birdlife in Lake Nakuru is plentiful and hence the reason why it is a beacon for leading ornithologists and wildlife filmmakers. LAKE NAKURU LODGE (B,L,D).

DAY 5 & 6: MASAI MARA

We will drive to the Masai Mara Game Reserve. This is the most famous and most visited game reserve in Kenya . It offers breathtaking views (as seen in the Oscar Award-winning film Out of Africa , much of which was filmed here). We will have a game drive en route to the lodge to arrive in time for lunch. Early afternoon will be spent at leisure, to be followed by a game drive. We need not venture far from the Camp to see large herds of elephants, giraffes, prides of lions and thousands of plains game such as impala, Thompson's and Grant gazelles. MARA SIMBA LODGE.

DAY 7: NAIROBI

We depart the Masai Mara game reserve after breakfast to arrive in Nairobi in time for lunch. The rest of the day will be spent at leisure at the luxurious Nairobi Safari Club. Last- minute shopping for art and gifts would be ideal at this time. In the evening we will have our farewell dinner at the Carnivore Restaurant. After dinner and final farewell you will be transferred to the airport to connect your flight back home. Kwaheri
